Meet Hannah Sainty

I've always loved comedy. I grew up performing comedy sketches—(Christmas Day was like Fringe Festival to me - the biggest audience I had before school). I'd watch anything and everything funny and buy books of jokes just to see them on the page. I grew up living for laughs, performing in shows and creating funny videos on my not-so-smart phone.

 

After working at a media company after school and studying acting, I got myself a film production degree at uni, which led me to make a comedy YouTube channel and funny short films with one of my best mates. (I also loved and made some horror/suspense stuff because I love comedy and horror... Jordan Peele, anyone?) 

 

After that, I pretended I needed to be serious and went to work in production companies and an advertising agency before quickly realising that I preferred a funny life over one where I had to read contracts for actors.

I'd rather be the actor! 

So, I moved to England.

I had a bunch of acting adventures, officially dubbed a "comedy actor" by a director at Pinewood Studios and ended up working in immersive theatre. 

 

Fast forward to 2020, when I came home to make a music clip before COVID then forced me to stay in Australia and move back (forever thankful to my friends who had to go to my London house and pack and send my things!). It was at this time, after a lifetime of comedy writing and acting and wishing I could do standup comedy - I started doing standup comedy! 

Since then, I've not looked back. It's been a non-stop ride of performing comedy across Australia, performing in all of Australia's major festivals and with my first-hour solo show debuting at the 2024 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. 

 

I've also got a podcast called You're Weird. Check it out for the full scoop on creativity and chasing dreams. I'm about to launch a t-shirt line, and I'm pretty excited about. It's a bucket-list dream that's almost real and about to go public.
